When we first began to travel via RV, we would plan our stops at State parks and RV parks a few months before our Journey. We usually spent $35 to $45, sometimes $50 a night. Often these sites were intended for the park’s “overflow” traffic, folks like us who were just looking for a place to rest our heads. Often, they were gravel parking lots with ‘services’ (water/electric/sewer). When we started traveling more in our RV, we wanted to investigate better options for one-night stays. We have tried Walmart and Cracker Barrels. Neither option is ever guaranteed, and some don’t feel safe. Then we discovered Harvest Host.
Harvest Hosts allow its subscribers the opportunity to stay at Wineries, Breweries, Vineyards, Museums, or Farms within the Harvest Host network for one night, paying the host by purchasing some of their many delightful products. They do not have hook-ups. (camping sites with water, electric, or sewer) But for us, dry camping (boondocking) usually isn’t a problem.
On May 26th, we stayed at Mary’s Land farm just outside Columbia, Maryland. Here is a fun little video of our stay!
What a wonderful experience…I would have never wanted to leave… the water was my downfall as it meandered over the rocks to join the creek below… …( I am assuming I actually had my eyes cloed and my ears open…lol)
